How the tracks are structured
Our teaching approach
Each track builds on the previous one in a deliberate sequence. The Groundwork course establishes the programming and statistics foundations that the Model Building track assumes. The Capstone assumes the Model Building track's architecture and evaluation content. Learners who already have strong Python skills and are familiar with basic statistics frequently start at the Model Building track without issues — we discuss starting points during the enrolment conversation.
The evening delivery structure means each two-hour session covers one concept in depth rather than three concepts quickly. Exercises are sized to fit the gap between two evening sessions — typically three to four hours of work on a weeknight or a Saturday morning. Tutor feedback returns within 72 hours, before the next live session, so there is always time to review comments before new material is introduced.
Track 01 · 6 weeks · 6 hrs/week
Programming & Data Groundwork
A six-week evening course covering Python fundamentals, version control with Git, data wrangling with pandas, and the statistics needed to read a model's output honestly. Written for career changers with no prior programming background, taught from first principles at a pace that does not assume familiarity with a terminal or a text editor.
What the course covers
- Python basics: data types, control flow, functions, file I/O
- Version control with Git and GitHub
- Data wrangling with pandas and NumPy
- Descriptive statistics and distributions
- Reading and evaluating model output tables
What is included
- Weekly exercises with written tutor feedback
- Recorded session library for revision
- Cohort forum staffed by teaching assistants
- Written record of course completion
Course fee
RM 450
Includes all course materials, forum access, and completion record. No add-on charges.
Track 02 · 14 weeks · 10 hrs/week
Model Building & Evaluation Track
A fourteen-week track covering supervised and unsupervised learning, neural network fundamentals, transformer architectures, fine-tuning methodologies, and evaluation design. Intended for learners who can already write clean Python and want to build models they can defend in a professional context. Live evening sessions twice a week with tutor code review on assessed projects.
What the track covers
- Supervised learning: regression, classification, ensembles
- Unsupervised learning: clustering, dimensionality reduction
- Neural network fundamentals and backpropagation
- Transformer architectures and fine-tuning
- Evaluation design: metrics, baselines, and honest reporting
What is included
- Three assessed projects with tutor code review
- GPU credits for the duration of the track
- Office hours twice weekly (Saturday mornings)
- Recorded session library indexed by module
- Written record of course completion
Course fee
RM 1,980
Payment plan available: three monthly instalments of RM 660. GPU credits and all course tools included.
Track 03 · 20 weeks · mentored
Night Cohort Capstone
A twenty-week evening capstone for people in full-time work. Each learner scopes a project with a designated mentor, builds it across the term, deploys it to a cloud environment, and defends a written report before the cohort at the end of the term. Weekly mentoring sessions, fortnightly peer review, and dedicated workshops on technical writing, portfolio presentation, and interview practice run throughout the twenty weeks.
What the capstone involves
- Mentor-matched project scoping in week one
- Fortnightly peer review of work in progress
- Technical writing and portfolio workshops
- Cloud deployment and hosted project page
- Written report defence before the cohort
- Interview practice workshops
What is included
- Cloud credits covering capstone project workload
- Hosted project page retained after term ends
- Alumni forum access after graduation
- Written record of course completion
Course fee
RM 3,880
Payment plan available: three monthly instalments of RM 1,294. Cloud credits, project hosting, and alumni forum included.

Best for beginners: Start with Groundwork if you have never written a line of code. | Best for Python users: Enter at Model Building if you can already write clean functions. | Best for a career move: The Capstone sequence gives you a public project and interview preparation.
How we run every track
Shared standards across all three courses
Recorded within 24 hours
Every live session is recorded and made available in the session library within 24 hours of the session ending.
Personal data handled with care
Enrolment data stays within Gradient Owl systems. We do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes.
Written completion record
Each track ends with a written record describing what was studied and what was produced. No inflated credential claims.
Capped cohort sizes
We do not open a new intake until we have the teaching capacity to deliver feedback and forum support properly.
Curriculum reviewed each intake
Content in the Model Building and Capstone tracks is reviewed before each intake to reflect changes in the field.
Evening-hours forum support
The cohort forum is staffed on Tuesday and Thursday evenings — the same evenings as the live sessions, when questions are most likely to arise.
Not sure where to begin?
Send us a note about your background and we will suggest the right starting point. The conversation takes ten minutes and carries no obligation to enrol.
